The Arkansas River
The first Real Photo Trip in Colorado! We drove south on I-25 to Canon City to check out the Royal Gorge Bridge. The bridge was built in 1929 as a tourist attraction - there highest bridge in the world until 2001. 955 ft above the Arkansas and 1260 ft long, it has a wooden deck rattles when the trolly bus travels across. We rode a vertical trolly down to the bottom of the gorge, took 5 minutes to get down incline is at a 45 degree angle. At the bottom is the Arkansas river, train tracks and part of the original redwood pipeline that used to cary drinking water to Canon City. There are white water rafting trips and train rides through the canyon as well.
